VENICE - Piazza San Marco
Pixel and Jay Peg went to Venice for the first time and loved every moment of their stay - they enjoyed the car-less calle - they enjoyed socializing with the other dogs and then.........Jay Peg discovered pigeons.........I think she is still dreaming about a nice big fat pigeon pie between her lips!!! ETON MESS
Though Eton College was founded by King Henry VI in 1440 - the famous british public school - whose alumni includes eighteen prime ministers and more recently the second and third in line to the English throne - Eton Mess was probably created by a labrador sitting on a picnic basket in the back of the Rover on the way to the annual prize-giving and parents day - The Fourth of June -where traditionally parents and pupils have a picnic on the playing fields - those same playing fields - mentioned by the Duke of Wellington in his famous quote - "The Battle of Waterloo was won on the playing fields of Eton." - This yummy mixture of strawberries, cream and crushed meringues to which the school has now lent it's name is so easy and quick to prepare while thinking about those lazy hazy days of summer - and - it's also a messy treat!

I REALLY JUST CAN'T BELIEVE..... that
George W and I have two things in common - it is amazing- it's more than amazing it's unbelievable - we are both fans of terriers and Tom Wolfe. In today's NYT - Elisabeth Bumiller's White House Letter - "Bush's Official Reading List, and a Racy Omission" - The racy omission being Wolfe's latest beer and sex-soaked new novel "I am Charlotte Simmons" which according to Bumiller he is - unofficially - recommending to all his friends - Mr. Bush added that "in this job, there are some simple pleasures in life that really help you cope. One is Barney the dog, and the other is books. I mean, books are a great escape. Books are a way to get your mind on something else." For once I couldn't agree more with President Bush and I am also -officially - highly recommending Mr. Wolfe's new book to all my friends too.
